- Welcome to Easy Word. If you are normal you will want to get on
- and try it without reading the manual. This is fine. There are
- only a couple of facilities that you wont be able to find from
- the on screen help.
-
- However, Before you start - Easy Word is not just another
- standard word processor with a different set of menus. There are
- many semi intelligent facilities built into the editor in order
- to make life easier for you. To do this it was necessary to
- assume certain document layout conventions. Easy Word expects to
- operate on block paragraph layouts with a blank line between
- paragraphs like the first two in this document.
-
- You should avoid using indented first line paragraphs like
- this one and you cannot use indented first line paragraphs when
- you use the dynamic column system.
-
- Easy Word expects that there will only be one space left between
- sentences. You can leave two but the second may occasionally
- disappear during wordwrap. If you leave three or more Easy word
- will mistake the second sentence for the beginning of a column.
- This will also happen if you leave two spaces between words.
-
- 1. Any time that you wish to type text which will not span
- between the left and right page margins like this
- paragraph you should load a dynamic column set. Just press
- F4. There are several pre defined column sets supplied and
- you can define others as and when you wish. This one uses
- the "Numbered Paragraph" set.
-
- Please do not type paragraphs like the one above by tabbing to
- the start position. You should only use tabs for typing lists.
- If you typed the previous paragraph without a suitable column
- set then Easy Word would not be able keep the format should you
- decide to insert additional text or do a search and replace
- operation. For an example of how dynamic columns can help you
- press F8 - Select Search and Replace - Enter search text of
- "left and right" and replacement text of "lefthand and
- righthand". When the columns menu appears select "Numbered
- Paragraphs". To edit the above paragraph, position the cursor
- anywhere within it, press F4 and select "Numbered Paragraphs".
- Use the Tab key to switch from the text column to the number
- column and vice-verso .
-
- There are only two facilities which you will not be able to find
- without reference to the manual. Table Entry Mode and Remarks to
- be skipped by the printer. Both are useful and you should look
- them up. You should also read the section on recording macros
- before you try to use them. There is a demonstration macro
- recorded. If you wish to run it please take the cursor down to a
- blank page then type Ctrl + M.
-
- Finally, the return key, like the tabs, works exactly the same
- as a typewriter. To insert a blank line or force a new paragraph
- press F1. F1 does the job that the return key does in all other
- word processors.
